United Synagogue Youth (USY)

About USY

CNT’s chapter of United Synagogue Youth (USY) is open to all 7th-12th graders. Once a month, USYers meet for a social event such as bowling, pool parties, and other fun events. Our USYers also have the opportunity to attend regional events with other Southern California USY chapters.

Throughout this program,  USYers are able to begin to express their own Jewish identities, make life-long friends, and begin to sense their own place within the adult Jewish community. USY offers our teens a space to create meaningful and positive Jewish connections.

USY Board
The purpose of the United Synagogue Youth (USY) Board at Congregation Ner Tamid of South Bay (CNT) is to help plan fun and educational activities for USY. Board members help plan and promote monthly USY events, Shabbats and holidays. Leadership seminars are included at board meetings to help connect board members while emphasizing their vital roles in our kehilla (community). Board meetings take place once a month usually on a Sunday afternoon. Our USY Board members are able to gain a fun hands-on experience while honing in on many skills such as: Jewish leadership, communication, time management, organization, public speaking, facilitation, marketing, branding, event planning and much more!
