Religious School (CLAL)

CLAL Religious School

CLAL stands for Children Learning and Living in Jewish Community.  In our religious school, we strive to create an embracing and stimulating Jewish community for our children in Kindergarten - 7th Grade.  Our program is designed to enable students to take root in their Jewish past and commit themselves to a Jewish future by living and learning their Jewish present.  Our philosophy is that students learn by doing, and our curriculum is shared through project based learning and experiences.

Torah Tots
Torah Tots is for children who are potty-trained- TK.   Activities include outdoor play, shira (singing) and rikkud (Israeli dance).   Our teachers and specialists work very hard to make their classroom environments sacred communities in which students learn, grow and have fun!

CLAL Curriculum Overview
Our curriculum seeks to explore concepts and address basic questions that recur throughout our lifetimes. Our teachers also address Jewish holidays each year, incorporating students' previous knowledge with new material. The Hebrew program stresses prayer and ritual Hebrew, integrating classroom study with the regular practice of weekly services.

Teen Chavaya and Curriculum
Chavaya is CNT’s experiential learning program for 8th-12th graders.  Tichon takes place weekly from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Dinner is served from 6:00-6:30, learning takes place from 6:30-7:30 and an activity follows from 7:30-8:00. About once a month, all of our students are together for a special program from 6:00-8:00pm. We understand that our teens’ lives are busy and we are happy to see them whenever they are able to attend!
The Chavaya faculty includes Ami Berlin, Miriam Cohn, and Rabbi Graetz who will teach Confirmation.

Faculty
The CLAL faculty members are caring, dedicated, creative and passionate.  Our shared goal is to create a learning space that is not just a school, but also a kehillah- community.  Yes- we are a school with formal Jewish learning, but we are also more than that.  We are a nurturing environment, encouraging friendships, celebrating holidays and having fun!  Faculty members work in partnership with parents and the larger community to establish roots from which your children will grow strong Jewish identities.
